Sleep serves many vital functions, both physically and mentally. If you're deprived of the sleep you need, your body may not have time to complete the phases of sleep needed for muscle repair, memory consolidation and release of hormones regulating growth and appetite. Not only do you wake up feeling tired, but you are also less prepared to concentrate, make decisions, or engage with the day ahead. Long term it can lead to burnout, and spiral into further mental health problems. We know that sleep is important, sometimes though, it isn't as simple as getting to be earlier; problems sleeping can often deteriorate into a vicious cycle of worry, anxiety, insomnia and exhaustion.
